Fiddlesticks Strings was founded in 2020 by Linnea Waggoner in Salem, Illinois.  Linnea has taught privately for almost 25 years and is a highly qualified violinist and educator.  She earned a dual BM in Music Education and Violin Performance from Utah State University and holds a Masters of Music Education from Brigham Young University.  Linnea is also a certified Kodaly instructor and Suzuki teacher.

Linnea was a winner of USU Concerto Solo Competition where she performed the Shostakovich Violin Concerto.  Linnea has performed as a soloist in master classes with world-renowned artists including Pinkas Zukerman, Tokyo String Quartet, Guarneri String Quartet, Pacifica String Quartet, and Veermer String Quartet.  She served as the concertmaster of the USU Symphony during 2005-2006.  While at USU, she studied violin with Marjorie Bagley and Rebecca McFaul of the Fry Street Quartet.

In 2012, Linnea was awarded "Teacher of the Year'' from Reagan Academy Charter School in Springville, Utah where she taught elementary music and choir for 8 years.  She has been applauded for her versatility in teaching all ages and disciplines in music.  At Reagan Academy, students knew her as the “costume diva” and they would often see her dressed as Mozart, Beethoven, "The Remarkable Farkle McBride'', or some other outrageous character.

In fall of 2014, Linnea completed her Masters research project which focused on creating curriculum guidelines for students home practice using online tools.  While at BYU, Linnea also completed 3 years of intensive study to become a certified teacher of the Kodály Method, which is a world-renowned approach to music education developed in Hungary by the composer Zoltán Kodály.  She studied with Hungarian teachers Marta Szabo and Zsuzsanna Mindszenty.

Linnea currently lives in Salem, Illinois with her husband Brock and together they have three children: Wilson, Wally, and Nettie.  She loves to snuggle with her kiddos, do house projects, design spaces, plant flowers, and travel to Utah to see her beloved Wasatch Mountains and family.
